This month’s track, with William Coulter on guitar and Bob Giles on flute, is the last grouping in their 1984 live concert, part of the Trinity Church Guitar Festival in Berkeley. Leonard Bernstein’s “America “ is coupled with Gaspar Sanz’s “Canarios”, written centuries before, but sharing time, key signature, and spirit. Bob also plays guitar, and both he and Bill were among a group of young players who honored and encouraged me early in my work by choosing my guitars to express their music.
